Since its opening in 2000, ChampionsGate Golf Club’s International course has been a favorite among golfers from all areas of the world with its hard and fast playing surfaces. The International course was designed by Greg Norman, the golfing legend. This par 72 course covers 7363 yards from the tees located the furthest from the green. Looking at the International course brings one word to mind – water – lakes and ponds are located throughout to challenge all levels of golfers. Golfers who play the course admit that each of the 18-holes tests their skills, but still lends to a fun day. Several tournaments are played at ChampionsGate each year including the well-known Del Webb Father/Son Challenge. ChampionsGate, a community in itself, is located between Orlando and Tampa. So, attractions ranging from Busch Gardens and the beaches of Tampa Bay to Disney World, Epcot Center, SeaWorld and Universal Studios in Orlando are nearby. Lakeland is also nearby and has its own historic ambiance with restaurants, museums and a performing arts center. Many who play on the British Isles-styled International Course at ChampionsGate will soak up its authentic feel and its rectangular tee boxes, dunes made of sand and pot bunkers. In addition, villas can be purchased or rented and the Omni Resort contains 720 rooms and suites for visitors.
