The Timacuan golf course was designed by internationally-renown designer, Ron Garl. Then, redesigned a few years ago by award-winning golf course architect, Bobby Weed, to make the course what it is today. At the back tees, the course is a full 6915 yards, which will present a challenge to confident golfers; however, the front tees shorten the course to 4576 yards, so even novice golfers can have an enjoyable day. The planning and expertise that went into creating Timacuan has paid off. The course has been recognized as one of the top courses in the Orlando area. Florida Golf Reporter Magazine has ranked Timacuan among the top 20 courses in the State of Florida. In addition, a specific hole – number two - has been voted by Orlando Magazine as one of the most difficult holes in the area. General Manager, Tony Johnson, was given an award for being PGA Golf Professional of the Year. And, Mike Bender of Timacuan’s Mike Bender Golf Academy was awarded Teacher of the Year. Besides the numerous awards, Timacuan has also hosted several prestigious tournaments, including the PGA Pro Series Tournament. Lake Mary is located less than a half-hour from downtown Orlando Florida. Consequently, it is close enough for Orlando residents and area visitors alike. Avid golfers can fit in 18-holes while their families take in the wonders of Disney World, Epcot Center, MGM and Universal Studios. Restaurants, shopping, and night clubs are all in the area. With something for everyone, Timacuan is in the perfect location. At Timacuan, the links-styled front nine have a different feel from the Carolina Low Country-styled back nine. Rolling hills, strategically placed sand traps and water hazards, stately oaks, and elegant pines can be found throughout the course. The greens are beautiful and the course is well-maintained. A clubhouse, pro shop, practice facilities, the Mike Bender Golf Academy, and the Timacuan Bar & Grill can all be found on-site at Timacuan Golf Club. |
