The 18-hole golf course, located in DeLand, Florida, quickly became a sensation partly due to the work of its architect, Ron Garl. Garl used the naturally sandy terrain and gave Victoria Hills an abundance of bunkers and then let the beautiful, rolling hills create a feeling of open play. Teeing off at the championship level allows golfers to play a whopping 7113 yards, while tees set at the community level make play a bit shorter with 4852 yards. Regardless the level of play, this par 72 golf course is designed to delight golfers. Garl’s hard work in creating Victoria Hills was given credit by several sources. Golf Magazine ranked Victorian Hills as one of the top 10 public access courses in Florida and Golf Weekly placed it on its list of best places you can play in Florida. In addition, the course has hosted U.S. Open qualifiers and is the home course for the men and women golf teams of Stetson University. DeLand is a small town located only 30 minutes from the busy metropolis of Orlando. Consequently it is close to many tourist attractions such as Disney World, Epcot Center, SeaWorld and Universal Studios. The City of DeLand has a quaint historic district and a garden district to occupy those visitors who choose to tour around town, shop and eat at local restaurants rather than golf. The small town atmosphere and the residential area of Victoria Park bode well for Victoria Hills and enough cannot be said about the beautiful course. Rolling hills and steep bunkers abound. Beautiful lakes, pine trees, lakes and luscious greens are all a sight to behold and offer a challenge to golfers across the 18 holes. In addition to top-notch golf, Victoria Hills offers a residential area called Victoria Park, a great pro shop and an on-site restaurant. |
