When Walkabout Golf Club debuted its golf course in 2003, golfers along the Florida Space Coast were ecstatic. The course has a unique layout and provides for a fun, yet challenging day of golf. Walkabout was created by golf course architect, Perry Dye, and LPGA golf professional, Jan Stephenson. Together, they designed one of the most memorable courses on the East Coast of Florida.
Dye and Stephenson’s creative efforts have not gone unnoticed. To begin with, the 7,115 yard golf course has received praise for its well-maintained greens and fairways. In addition, PGA tour professional, Chris DiMarco, and Champions Tour professionals, Fulton Allem and Mike Smith, have all taken advantage of the beautiful golf course at Walkabout Golf Club. The pros certainly know where to play.
Mims is conveniently located close to Florida’s Atlantic Ocean. It is just moments from the Kennedy Space Center, the Astronaut Hall of Fame, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, and of course, the Atlantic Ocean itself. It is also within a close drive to the Orlando attractions of Walt Disney World, Epcot Center, SeaWorld, and MGM and Universal Studios. Consequently, there is something for everyone – from great golf to tourist attractions or even water activities like swimming, sailing or fishing.
Walkabout is a one-of-a-kind course and is a course avid golfers must play. It has beautiful fairways with rolling terrain, pristine lakes, and plant and wildlife local to the area. Over 60 sand bunkers and plenty of water can be found throughout the course. However, the most unique aspect of Walkabout is the 19th green – it is in the shape of Australia - a very different, yet entertaining bonus hole. There is also a pro shop, a driving range, professional golf instruction by an LPGA pro, and a clubhouse with a snack bar at Walkabout Golf Club. |
